Abstract:
The aim of the research was to identify the effectiveness of a training program based on acceptance and commitment therapy in reducing alexithymia and its impact on the level of self-esteem among female students with specific learning disorder. The sample consisted of (11) female students with specific learning disorder enrolled in two schools: Gamal Abdel Nasser Girls Secondary School in Dar El Salam and Girls Secondary School in Maadi. The chronological ages of the sample ranged between (14,5-15,5) years with an average of (14.91) and a standard deviation of (0.83). The research tools used were: Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, fifth edition, translated and Arabized by Mahmoud Abu El-Nil, Mohamed Taha, and Abdel-Mawgoud Abdel-Samee (2011). Raven J. C. Progressive Matrices Test (standardization/ Imad Ahmed Hassan Ali, 2016) Rapid Neurological Survey Test (standardization/ Abdel Wahab Kamel, 2007) Alexithymia Disorder Scale (prepared by the researchers), Self-Esteem Level Scale (prepared by the researchers), and one experimental group was used as an experimental design, and the training program was applied (prepared by the researchers). The measurement was done immediately after the completion of the program, as well as after two months, and the results showed the effectiveness of the program in reducing alexithymia and improving the level of self-esteem among female students with specific learning disorder and the continued decline in the level after two months through (follow-up measurement).
